More than sixty percent of the emancipated foster youth become homeless and I thought it would be great to build a place where they can live safely so they wouldn't have to live on the street. That's where the idea came from.
It's a place to learn life skills. It has two apartments. One on the bottom and one on the top. Both have a foyer, living room, dining room, kitchen, a little laundry room, nice bathroom and two nice bedrooms. They are about 1500 square feet each and were decorated beautifully by a Beverly Hills decorator so that the girls get a sense of what is nice and right. That way they won't be intimidated when they go to a Beverly Hills office to get a job.
It houses four girls. Each girl has her own bedroom. They share the bathroom. It features beautiful carpet and terrific big time furniture -- cherry wood. It also has a top of the line refrigerator. There's also a garage. The girls pay $300.00 a month in rent and they get all that money back in two years, which gives them a nice little nest egg.
they learn how to balance a checking account, how to get a drivers license at the DMV, how to deal with paycheck taxes, shopping, cleaning, laundry ... all the life skills.
The Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) handles the The Gutten House Foundation. If anyone wants to contribute, the money would go to EIF in Los Angeles and be earmarked for The Guttenhouse. All donations should be made out to the Guttenhouse. The money goes to buy things in the house.
Be sure to send a note with the contribution requesting that the money be earmarked to help the Guttenhouse.
